SDSCA Listserv
Members Only Listserv
As a benefit of joining SDSCA, members are able to join a members-only listserv. SDSCA members can discuss issues relating to school counseling with other professionals - knowing their concerns and questions will be kept in confidence. Members can be a sounding board for each other in a safe and secure email group.
To ensure the best possible experience for all listserv members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation. We will periodically send this document out to the list as a friendly reminder for experienced users and to assist newer users with listserv operations.
By using the SDSCAMembers listserv, you agree that you have read and will follow the guidelines set for the listserv. You also agree to reserve discussions for topics best suited to the medium. This is a great way to ask for the advice, benefit from others' experiences, and network with other professionals. Please take a moment to review our guidelines.
In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and advantageous dialogue, SDSCA reserves the right to unsubscribe listserv members.
Visit the SD K-12 Data Center for instructions to subscribe or unsubscribe to SDSCA Members listserv.
Rules
Be respectful. Do not use derogatory comments, ridicule, excessive sarcasm or innuendos. Let others have their say, just as you have yours.
Use caution when discussing items. Information sent to the list is available for all members to see and reply. Do not include anything in a listserv message that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials or language are strictly prohibited.
Please note all items listed in the disclaimer below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information shared to the list.
Do not distribute any SPAM, solicitation, jokes, chain letters, petitions for signatures, or messaging relating to pyramid schemes.
Do not use the listserv to invite the entire list to join your social network (Facebook, Linkedin, etc). You may invite individuals to join your network but may not invite the entire list.
Etiquette
Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, and e-mail address.
State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your email and makes it easier for members to search by topic.
Refrain from using "Reply all". Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that benefits everyone.
Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals--not to the entire list.
Do not spam several lists with the same message. Make sure you are sending appropriate questions to the appropriate listservs.
Refrain from giving out too much information regarding students when looking for consultations from members. If more information is needed, it would be a more ethically sound choice to have that conversation over the phone.
Consider if your email would be best served if sent on a different related listserv. View a multitude of listservs on the K12 Data Center Mailing Lists page.
